Review of my mini sew

I have been "quilting" for about 8 years - paper piecing for 1.5 and sewing since I was a child.  this being said I am not unfamiliar with sewing machines - and I am very comfortable around them.  Today I tried out my new Kenmore (Janome) Mini Sew.  I paid $49.99 for it on ebay - with free shipping.  If you are looking for a good -easy to use - machine for paper or for quilting - this one may work.  It weighs about 7 lbs.  So even I can move it to my kitchen table or outside if I want. It feeds paper and fabric straight and easily - no tugging or pulling.  I used pre-wound "A" bobbins - because I had bought 250 about 8 years ago - and still have 240!  The threading was pretty standard and the instructions easy to follow.  I liked it - I loved it - I want to do more of it!  I even took out the thread and bobbin and used it to pierce the paper - WOW - straight -evenly spaced holes!   And I pieced paper together using the zigzag stitch to catch both papers -even though they overlapped slightly.  Surprisingly - it sews just as well on fabric!  I sure got a winner here!

  1. I'm glad this has worked out for you Ronni and I look forward to seeing the influence it has on the cards yet to come. If I had a bigger crafting space this would be on my wish list for sure. Until then I'll live vicariously through you. :)
